In September 2009, San Francisco State University will host a conference exploring the question and place of rights in American history, politics, and society. The conference will meet on the campus of San Francisco State University on September 17 and 18, 2009. Americans have fought over questions of individual and collective rights since the nation’s founding. Our goal is to bring together a wide variety of people from a range of academic, activist, legal, and community spaces to examine the place of rights within the broader context of American society.
