On the program for the 10th Annual Battle of San Jacinto Symposium, somewhat startlingly heralded as Skulls, Slaves, and Sex: Secrets of Early Texas, is James W. Paulsen, South Texas College of Law, whose talk is entitled Was Sam a Bigamist? A Lawyer Looks at Sam Houston's Divorce. According to the announcement, Professor Paulsen "will discuss Sam Houston's legal problems following the breakup of his marriage to Eliza Allen in Tennessee and subsequent romance with Anna Raguet of Nacogdoches during the Texas Revolution and the early years of the Republic." The symposium will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center, University of Houston Central Campus.
