Women and the Supreme Court Bar

I’m going to plug, retroactively, a panel convened at Georgetown last Thursday, Women and the Supreme Court Bar, a recording of which is now available here. The speakers were Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States; Pamela Karlan, Professor, Stanford Law School; Patricia Millett, Partner and Co-Chair of Supreme Court Practice, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP; and Virginia Seitz, Partner, Supreme Court and Appellate Practice, Sidley Austin LLP. As an announcement of the event explained, "The panelists will discuss their career paths to appellate practices and their experiences as Supreme Court advocates, offering guidance to other women who hope to practice before the Court. They will also take on the issue of gender diversity in the Supreme Court Bar, addressing obstacles to fuller participation by women and ways to increase the number of women lawyers in Supreme Court practice."
