Amherst College Keiter Postdoctoral Fellowship in Classics

Amherst's Robert E. Keiter 1957 Fund for Postdoctoral Fellows, with matching funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, supports exceptionally promising young scholars for two years of half-time teaching (one course each semester) and half-time research at the College. As part of the Keiter Fellowship program, Amherst will appoint a postdoctoral fellow as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics for the academic years 2007-2009. The Keiter Postdoctoral Fellowship is a full-time salaried appointment that is open only to recent Ph.D. recipients who have not held a regular faculty appointment. This fellowship is a full-time, salaried appointment that is open only to those who will have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. by September 2007, and who have not already held a regular faculty appointment.

We seek a Fellow who will contribute to the department’s program in the language, literature, and culture of the Romans. Over the course of four semesters the Fellow may expect to teach courses at all levels of Latin instruction for majors and potential majors and a course of his/her own design on some aspect of the Roman world for the broader student population at Amherst.
