Boston College Legal History Roundtable

For the 2010-2011 academic year, Professor Mary Sarah Bilder, Professor Daniel R. Coquillette, Professor Frank Herrmann and Professor James S. Rogers are conveners of the Boston College Legal History Roundtable. 

The Roundtable meets on Thursday afternoons at 4:30 in the Rare Book Room of the Boston College Law School Library. Refreshments are available at beginning at 4:15 pm. 

Fall 2010
Thursday September 23: Intisar Rabb, Professor, Boston College Law School, “Doubt Jurisprudence in Early Islamic Law and Society, 7th-9th centuries”.

Thursday October 14: Jedidiah Kroncke, Raoul Berger-Mark DeWolfe Howe Fellow, Harvard Law School, "Pound in China: The New Legal Exceptionalism and the Failures of Export." 

Spring 2011

Thursday January 13: Hendrick Hartog, Class of 1921 Bicentennial Professor of the History of American Law and Liberty, Princeton University, "Someday All this will be Yours:  A History of Old Age and Inheritance."

Wednesday February 9: Pauline Maier, William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of American History, MIT, "James Madison Reconsidered: The Significance of the Ratification Debates of 1787-88 for Understand the Constitution."
Co-Sponsored with the Clough Center. Talk will be on Boston College Main Campus, location to be announced.

Wednesday March 23: Michael Hoeflich, John H. and John M. Kane Professor of Law, University of Kansas School of Law, "The West Revolution & the Taming of Legal Information in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century."
