I hope you will forgive a non-history aside: I am very proud to announce that my USC colleague Elyn Saks has been named a MacArthur Foundation Fellow. Saks is an expert in mental health law, and the author of a remarkable book about her own experience with schizophrenia, The Center Cannot Hold: My Journey Through Madness.
