Oregon Constitutional History Web Archive Honored

Crafting the Oregon Constitution has received an Honorable Mention in what is being called the "first annual Best Archives of the Web awards" at at ArchivesNext. The site is maintained by the Oregon State Archives.

Before the constitution was framed, according to the site, Oregon fever gripped America, beginning in the 1840s. You can follow debates at the 1857 conference, with information about delegates, and coverage of substantive debates, including on the role of the judiciary. The original constitution begins here.
