Stanley Katz wins National Humanities Medal

President Barack Obama announced yesterday that Legal historian Stanley Katz, Princeton University, is among this year's awardees for the National Humanities Medal.  Other awardees this year include Bernard Bailyn, Jacques Barzun and Gordon S. Wood.  Stanley's profile begins:

“I only have one aim in life, to do what I can to improve the quality of democracy in the United States,” says Professor Stanley Katz. He has worked toward this lofty goal through decades of teaching, as well as writing and speaking on ways to make our academic institutions better.
 The medals will be presented at a ceremony today at the White House.  Congratulations to Stanley!
