Organized by Jane Ohlmeyer (Trinity College Dublin), Richard Ross (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and Philip Stern (Duke University), the day-long event brought together historians of Ireland, Scotland, North America, and South Asia. On May 20-21, the Islamic Legal Studies Program at Harvard Law School will host a workshop on Animals, Law and Religion. The event is co-organized by ILSP Director Kristen Stilt and by Visiting Fellows Febe Armanios and Boğaç Ergene. Workshop participants will explore the treatment of animals from Islamic and comparative religio-legal perspectives. From the paper titles and bios of the presenters, it looks like legal history will be well represented on the program.
