The American Historical Association has announced the prizes to be awarded at its annual meeting in January. Congratulations to William Novak, Michigan Law, for winning the Littleton-Griswold Prize, awarded "for the best book in any subject on the history of American law and society, broadly defined," for New Democracy: The Creation of the Modern American State (Harvard University Press, 2022). And also to Adriana Chira, Emory University, who won the James A. Rawley Prize in the integration of Atlantic worlds before the 20th century for Patchwork Freedoms: Law, Slavery, and Race beyond Cuba’s Plantations (Cambridge University Press, 2022).
