An Amtrak exhibit on the early twentieth-century Great Migration of African Americans from the segregated South to the North opens this weekend in Washington D.C's Union Station. Many migrants took passenger and freight trains, and the exhibit features images and documents associated with their journeys. The exhibit opens in Union Station on August 20 and will remain in Washington through September 26th. The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York Public Library, African American Museum of Philadelphia, Library of Congress, The Henry Ford® Archives, and the University of Chicago and Florida State Archives all helped to design the exhibit.
