The
Center for Diversity and Democracy (CDD) at the University of Southern California invites applications for a two-year
Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Civic Engagement, beginning Fall 2012. Scholars investigating any aspect of civic engagement in the humanities or humanistic social sciences from any disciplinary perspective are encouraged to apply. The fellowship has an annual salary in the first year of $59,000, plus fringe benefits and a yearly $2,000 research/travel allowance. The fellow will teach one course per semester in USC Dornsife College and participate in relevant CDD programs.
The USC CDD is affiliated with the
Department of American Studies and Ethnicity and works with faculty members, Ph.D. students, undergraduate students, and community partners to enhance, explore and develop strong connections between efforts of university-community civic engagement and the diversity of university faculty and students. The CDD focuses on research that stresses imagining a future for Los Angeles and other global metropolitan areas of racial equity and social justice, empowering various communities to come together and work in harmony. This research may explore the past, present, or future of these regions, as well as comparisons across national and continental boundaries.
